A global design system capturing the ‘Rhythm of Rio’

When Visa asked us to help them create their global design system for Rio 2016, it had to be uniquely Visa and grounded in their master brand identity. It needed to be scalable, modular and to unify their Olympic communication materials across all platforms and markets.

The primary design element, the ‘Rhythm of Rio’, was developed to incorporate the Visa acceptance mark. This, combined with expressive shapes and organic lines, gave the design a feeling of motion and progression. The geometric shapes were inspired by the official look of the games Rio 2016, the wave patterns found at Copacabana beach and the Brazilian landscape.

Everything was brought together in a complete visual identity system that included design, activation guidance and templates.
